As we prepare for Hurrican Irma, I want to share with you the latest decision by our leadership.

Our host church, Community UMC shared with me today that they are planning to close the campus on Sunday. The city of Casselberry has informed them that a curfew will most likely be imposed Sunday morning and are asking that people stay off the streets.

So we will not be having services on Sunday. Because the storm is projected not to clear the area until late Tuesday, Recovery Works will not meet next week.

For those of you who are planning to attend the Friday Bible study with the Hagues, they are in town and are still hosting it.

As I think about this storm and its potential impact on our city, I’m reminded of Jesus’s words in Luke 18:1, “Pray and do not lose heart.” So we pray in the face of adversity knowing that the one who designed and created such storms is fully in control. So let us ask the God of mercy for his protection and peace over His beloved church.

So join with me in prayer:

“Our Father, the maker of heaven and earth, we pray for your protection from this storm and in your mercy ask that you would steer it away from our homes through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jonathan
